1862 May 30

[from the diary of Samuel Johnson of the 1st Massachusetts Independent Light Battery]

                        May. 30th

Yesterday several of the wounded prisoners
were brought in; they are mostly all North
Carolinians.  To day the rebs threw a
number of shells into our lines, but as
usual no injury was inflicted by them.
During the evening a severe thunder
shower set in, which lasted all night.
