there was a fight
to day between about
6 thousand of the enemy
and 2 thousand of ours. we
had one man killed & one
wounded. the enemy were
driven back with consid
erable loss it is supposed
Perhaps Jones is referring to the Federal reconnaisance to Lewinsville on September 25.
