Wednesday – Jany 29/62
Spent this morning in
superintending the Company clean
up Company quarters & in
making benches & fixing up
the Den. None but Battalion
Drill today –
Mr Jas Ross arrived today
from New Orleans – Willie
returned with his but not
my furlough – he leaves for
N.O. tomorrow, I wrote to Mr
Memminger tonight by him to try
& get my furlough from the War
department – Sent him my
letter of introduction – Wrote to
[-] by Willie – Returned
at 11 o’c tonight – Willie & Fry got
tight tonight – bidding farewell to Huger – they
wake me up at 12 o’c to go & take Eggnog – I would
not leave my bed
